A miner is an individual or entity that validates and adds transactions to the Bitcoin blockchain. By using computational power, miners discover new blocks, ensuring the security and continuity of the Bitcoin network. In return for this critical role, miners are awarded new bitcoins for each valid block they create. While miners play a pivotal part in transaction confirmation, they cannot arbitrarily set or change network rules. The decentralized nature of Bitcoin ensures that if some miners decline specific transactions, others in the network will still process them.
