ASIC is a specialized hardware uniquely designed for Bitcoin mining. Unlike general-purpose computing chips, ASICs are tailored for a singular task, making them highly efficient for mining Bitcoin. Their efficiency outperforms GPUs, rendering GPU mining largely non-viable for Bitcoin. Though pricier and power-hungry, ASICs demand lesser maintenance and are more energy-efficient. Potential miners should note: sourcing ASICs can be challenging, home setups may need electrical modifications like 220v outlets, and they emit significant heat. Their resale predominantly targets other miners, given their singular function.
